The 2015 China Ceramic Art Exhibition & First Hunan (Liling) Ceramics Expo

The 2015 China Ceramic Art Exhibition & First Hunan (Liling) Ceramics Expo opened on March 26 at Liling World Ceramic Art City in Liling, a city in central China's Hunan Province and one with a long history of ceramics-making.

The exhibition features almost 3,000 pieces of selected ceramic artwork from all over China, presenting attendees with a panoramic view of a bountiful variety of Chinese ceramics — including ceramics from the provinces of Hunan, Shandong, Henan, Jiangsu and Jiangxi.

Additionally, the expo features more than 10 activities — all themed on ceramic culture — which showcase the unique charm of Liling ceramic art. The attractions include the ceramic-art viewing gallery; a display featuring a 25-meter-high inflatable model of the "World Peace Vase," a work of under-glazed colored porcelain; DIY (do-it-yourself) ceramic works; a Liling Ceramic photography exhibition; a Liling gourmet festival; promotional activities for investment projects; a fireworks show; and the distribution of ceramics-themed souvenir folders.

The ceramics industry in Hunan has a long, rich history and has carved out a unique position in its own right. The Liling Kiln of the late Qing Dynasty and early Republican Period took a different road by pioneering the application of five colors under the glaze. The products made there won international prizes time and again, turning Liling into a porcelain-producing city well known both at home and abroad.

In addition to showing to the world the ceramic-producing history and the innovating achievements of Liling, the expo aims to accelerate the improvement of Liling's platform for developing its ceramics industry and to expand foreign trade and cooperation, so as to boost the overall transformation and enhancement of the city's already-well-established ceramics industry.
